Fishing Madawaska Lake (Maine)

This lake is the first lake I ever fished on as a kid growing up in Maine. It is absolutely beautiful, located about 30 miles from the Canadian border. We used to catch perch, sunfish, trout and landlocked salmon. Our favorite was to find fresh water clams in the lake and crack them open and use the clam as bait to catch fish. It worked amazingly well!

I grew up in Connecticut but my parents were both from Aroostook County, so we went up there every year for vacation. My father eventually bought a camper and we parked it at Stan’s on Madawaska Lake. BEAUTIFUL place…and beautiful memories! I saw some nice togue come out of that lake over the years!
