Keep the Pattern Simple
Tomato, mozzarella, and basil should repeat across the plate. The alternating arrangement gives every serving a little of each main ingredient.
Add the balsamic syrup and olive oil only after the platter is assembled. Finish with the smoked sea salt and cracked pepper so the seasoning reaches the full plate.
A Fresh Side for an Outdoor Dinner
Caprese salad keeps the side dish uncomplicated when the main meal is coming from the grill. The tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil can share the table with salmon, vegetables, or another simple outdoor dinner.
Use smoked sea salt for the original Fishe finish. If you want to make your own, the related smoked-salt recipe uses Himalayan pink salt and alderwood chips.
