Cedar Plank Copper River Red Salmon

A simple grilled salmon recipe with olive oil, a savory salmon rub, and the warm flavor of a water-soaked cedar plank.

Ingredients

  • 1 full filet of Copper River Red Salmon
  • Tom Douglas “Rub with Love” salmon rub
  • Olive oil
  • 1 cedar plank

Directions

Rinse the salmon filet and dry with a paper towel. Rub olive oil over the salmon and sprinkle the flesh side with the spice. Place the salmon skin side down on a previously water-soaked cedar plank. Place on a hot grill and cook for approximately 10 minutes, until the salmon flakes and is done.

A Few Helpful Notes

Soak the plank

Use a thoroughly water-soaked cedar plank before it goes on the grill.

Cook skin-side down

Keep the salmon skin against the plank while it cooks.

Watch for flaking

The original recipe calls for about 10 minutes, with doneness judged by the salmon beginning to flake.

Why This Recipe Works

The ingredient list stays short, so the Copper River red salmon remains the focus. The cedar plank adds gentle wood-fired character while helping create an easy centerpiece for an outdoor meal.
